Our History

  • Passaic County Mobile Spay Neuter Van Coalition (the Coalition) was founded in 2003 as a coalition of five animal care groups with the purpose of supplying affordable, low-cost spay/neuter services for dogs and cats through the operation of a mobile surgical van.
  •
  • The five groups were: Save The Animals Rescue Team (START); Friends of Wayne Animals (FOWAS); Friends of the Shelter, Clifton, NJ (FOS); Helping Hands of Passaic (HHOP); and Only Kindness (OK).
  •
  • While our name derives from the location of the 5 founding groups, we have been serving individuals and groups without restriction of geographical location, municipality, county, or state.
  •
  • Operating since 2005, we named our mobile van “The Neuter Commuter”.
  •
  • We partnered with People For Animals (PFA) in 2015 in order to increase the number of people and animals we could serve. The name of the van was later changed to “The Spay Station”.
  •
  • We have served individuals, rescue groups, shelters, and TNR efforts with their owned, abandoned, homeless and community animals.
  •
  • With our PFA partnership, another not-for-profit entity, we facilitated animal veterinary service at three stationary facilities and two mobile units prior to the coronavirus pandemic in 2020. PFA continues to evolve in services and locations.
  •
  • With our PFA partnership we provided spay/neuter surgeries for approximately 24,000 cats and dogs.
  •
  • AND WE ARE STILL HERE TO HELP YOU.
